Water Garden I

Oil Painting
Size: 8"x10" unfr.
18"x20" fr.

There is something about a water garden or lily pond that I am so attracted to that
I've always wanted as many as possible to be represented in the gallery collection. As soon as I can decipher the signature on this piece, I will post it here.

Still have not been able to decipher the signature, this doesn't distract from it's beauty.

1/17/14 - Still haven't been able to decipher the signature.

Employing the world's premier studio for creating your canvas replicas guarantees that their process will capture the authentic texture and surface of the original work. It truly achieves the presence of original oil paintings.

The frame with linen liner measures 3" wide.

Patio Garden by S Morris

Oil Painting
Size: 20"x24" unfr

This is a sweet painting for just about any room in the house. I just learned that the artist is Morris who has painted many of the wonderful landscapes that I have sold and am still selling, (2-24"x36" oils left in the collection). I never connected them as being by the same artist. But after a closer look, I can see the similarity of brush strokes.
I just thought it a coincidence that the names were alike. The price has just gone up!

I do accept offers, and if yours is in the ballpark, your offer will accepted.

GOLDEN WOMAN by M.Morse

Oil Painting
Size: 27"x21.50" unfr.
31.50"x26" fr.

Ms. Morse worked for the gallery for about one year and then made the decision, with her husband, to try as they say, "greener fields". Where could it be greener? After all, New Jersey is the Garden State. But the color of money was greener to them in Las Vegas, and that's where they headed. I miss Mimi and wish her the best of luck. Besides, she likes the warmer weather.

Paris Street Scene With Eiffel Tower by Langly

Oil Painting
Size: 36"x48"
Price: $150

Like Burnett, posted here on my blog, Langly paints with the same enthusiasm in capturing world attractions. Whether you have visited these places or not doesn't matter as they will trigger your imagination and place you into the painting.

It's decorative art, at a reasonable price, to be hung in the home or office, and is part of the gallery's "Create A View" collection.

Thank you browsers for a very interesting day. It was so nice to meet you and welcome you into my world of art for living. As you have found out by your visit today, my selection is vast and if I didn't have what you were looking for specifically, I would try my best to locate it for you. Thank you for stopping by and please don't hesitate to ask me questions by phone, emai, or on Facebook. A visit to my Facebook page is a must. It's my pleasure to be as accommodating as I can. The majority of my inquiries in the gallery are for estimates of framing needs. Giving estimates has become a daily routine. I love when potential clients come to me last for an estimate and then when I see a happy face in agreement with my quote, it is gratifying, to say the least.

Venice Pedestrian Bridge

Original Oil Painting
Size: 36"x48"
Artist: Burnett
Price: $150 unframed

Not only does Burnett paint the familiar scenes of Paris but he divides his time capturing the popular attractions of Venice as well. If you've been to Paris and had the time, you most likely toured the artist colony of Montmartre. You had to come across the small gallery featuring the works of Burnett. I did. My business is to be observant when it has anything to do with a good painting for a great price. Consider his paintings as you would a souvenir of a place visited or of a place you'd like to visit.

Venice Bridge II

Original Oil Painting
Size: 36"x48"
Artist: Illegible
Price: $150

I photographed the signature and will have it posted in hopes of having it deciphered perhaps by one of you.

The canals in Venice are it's streets and the quickest way to travel is by foot, thanks to the bridges which link the small islands. If you are going a long distance, a water bus is used. This sounds like fun for the tourist but for the residents? Then again, why wouldn't it be delightful on a full time basis?

Born: Ukraine in 1961
Size: 13"x19"
Medium: Giclee
Edition 169/250
Price: $250

You can visit Tremler on the web. This artist is working in New Jersey and his work is exciting. Check it out. I only have the piece posted here and as long as he is on the web and selling, it doesn't pay for me to purchase his work for my gallery. Enjoy browsing my blog. Please don't hesitate to call or email the gallery if you have questions regarding the art work posted.

I'll be happy to answer questions you may want to explore about your personal collection as well. I will reply immediately or possibly a day or two later. I still deal with walk in browsers and clients daily and they are given my utmost attention. I promise a reply ASAP.

Thank you for taking the time to visit smorantzgalleries.blogspot.com.

Search "Sunflower Fields" and connect to my comment on the window display.

My 4th of July window display takes place 6/28/13

It is a very patriotic display and I'll keep some of the 4th's display in the window. The large red, white and blue ribbon will be retired and the flags as well. Between Memorial Day and flag day and the 4th my windows got a lot of attention. Right now what remains are red, silver and blue shining stars exploding up,out and cascading gracefully down. Nice when the sun shines on them, they catch the light and always seem to be in constant motion.

The rest of the summer window is being planned. This will be an easy one because it's sale time and most of my people are focusing on "The Shore" or "The Mountains" anyway.

July 12th I will probably remove the cascading stars from the windows and the red, white and blue flowers.

I'll be here all summer but will take long weekends sporadically. I have to notify my "google places" about this and do some editing. Maybe tomorrow. In the meantime support your local art street fairs and bring me the framing.

July 18th,19th &20th,2013 Cliffside Park will host a sidewalk sale. I'll be participating so please try to stroll the avenue and stop in to visit and browse and perhaps add a piece to your collection. Hope to see you.

2013: When I mention "The Mountains" I assume everyone knows by now I'm referring to The Catskills, in Sullivan County, N.Y. My hometown is Monticello, N.Y.
and be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. I recently saw Orsen Bean in a play at the Shadowland theater in Ellenville,N.Y. in the gunk's (short for Shawangunk Mountains) in Ulster Co. next to Sullivan Co.

Before the play, scheduled to start at 8pm, we arrived before 7pm to have dinner at the Mexican restaurant across the street from the theater. To make a long story short
the food didn't reach us until 7:45 so we had it bagged (well) and packed it into the pre-iced cooler my daughter thoughtfully transports all summer in her car because she breaks for farm stands. I enjoyed the play, and the food the next day.

Still 2013: I tend to get carried away from my purpose of posting a blog. I created this blog solely for trying to sell some of my gallery's collection through the miracle of the internet. (I still consider my computer a "miracle"). Besides answering emails and taking calls from whomever I have reached, in between I am greeting browsers, new and old, designing framing needs, etc., I like to log some of my moments that have nothing to do with art. It's like taking a "break".

O.K. So let's start selling! Keep on scrolling.

Horizons by Richard Casey

American Born - 1938

Silkscreen
Size: 34"x39.5"

Horizons represents Richard L.Casey's earlier work which resulted from his love of the desert. He was concerned that the desert was changing his creative thinking. He eventually turned to his "primal self" which produced a "whirlwind" of color executed in a most unconventional and highly effective manner.

You can google Richard Casey or call me and I'll explain the "unconventional" manner he employs and if you cannot find prices on the internet for Casey's work, I can only
quote prices for the available pieces posted here on my blog.

Downsizing My Collection

All the art work seen on my blog can also be seen in my gallery which I have been directing as a retail art and framing gallery for over 32 years, at the same address. Everything posted is for sale at below the estimated prices seen on google because I am depleting my inventory, or call it downsizing. No, I'm not closing the gallery.
I have miles to go yet and that much art work to find homes for. Now you have an opportunity to start a collection or add to your collection. The time is always now.

Certainly, I'd like to greet you in person in my gallery as I have greeted clients and potential clients in the past. Once you enter my gallery you become "my people" who share some of the many experiences I had and stories to tell about the world of art and stories having nothing to do with the world of art.

Times have changed and so have I. I've a blog and I started an S.Morantz Galleries page on FB. As you have noticed, on my blog, I add several comments to each post but not enough as I would like. My comments are cut short because they aren't being made in person so there isn't any feedback for me to elaborate. I answer all my emails as if the sender is standing along side of me. It would have been nice to meet Joanne from England or Romero from New Mexico or the many dozens from practically every state in the union. I admit that I am still thrilled with receiving inquiries even if most are only interested in finding out the cost of their art work or they are offering their art work for sale. I am candid with my reply's, winning the confidence of my faceless people.

Yesterday I worked face to face with a couple for forty minutes helping them select prints and oils for their restaurant and home. About forty pieces were pulled and spread out throughout the gallery and they asked me to please leave the art work as it was placed by them, scattered. They said that they'd be back in twenty minutes as they had an appointment with the dentist in my building. I was truly prepared to consummate the sale for at least several pieces. While awaiting their return several clients came into my very disorganized gallery but being "my people", they just worked their way through. After more than enough time elapsed for a dental appointment I took the liberty of checking the dentist's office. You guessed it, they weren't there. It was closing time by now so I reorganized the gallery but kept looking over my shoulder because I was beginning to believe that I was being punk'd. No, I was not being punk'd I was just being had by the art gallery terrorists. Working with "faceless" people isn't so bad after all.

Keep on scrolling and take your time.

Sherryl

Ristorante Conte

Oil Painting
Size: 24"x36" Unframed
Price: $300

This is a fine detailed painting of a small, quaint "ristorante" in an Italian town with meandering cobblestone walkways. Hikers or cyclists come across these little hideaways which are dotted all around the country and they are most likely family owned. It's charming and unique and time for a glass of wine from the Tuscan vineyards. Enjoy.

Gazebo on the Mediterranean

Oil Painting
Size: 20"x24" unframed
28"x32" framed
Price: $450 framed.

This was a common site around the 17th century: the gazebo set on a height to give an extensive view in all directions and used also as a garden house. The roofed structure is a free standing viewing pavilion. Gazebos were so grand and romantic then. Today, the "gazebo" is a small charming structure added to properties to enhance or just as a little getaway.

The Grand Party by Giancarlo Impiglia

Born: Rome-1940

Serigraph on arches paper.
Year: 1986
Image: 25"x33"
Paper: 29"x37"
Framed: 43.5"x35"
Edition: 225 - The paper slipped so I can't see the number of the piece until it's
refit, eventually.

Impiglia came to New York in the mid-seventies and has since become recognized as
one of the most influential artists of contemporary Art Deco style. "The Grand Party" was selected to be the cover of the book, "The Art of Giancarlo Impiglia" and as a result became most desirable to the collector. Just think how nice it would be to have "The Grand Party" hanging in your home and the book displayed on the coffee table.

Some of the world's most picturesque landscapes are in Tuscany. Here in this painting, rolling hills slope down into a medieval village of renovated farmhouses and villas full of art. Views as this one dot practically the entire Tuscan landscape.

I changed the frame to an antique gold baroque one. I didn't think this one did the painting justice, nor did anyone else.

I like small bridges in small quaint villages because most likely you will find several artists who have taken up residence there. The villages are picturesque and provide the artist with ample subject matter in either direction of the flowing water. Come to think of it I seem to find it easy to discover romance in about everything.

Manhattan Skyline by Elyse

I mentioned "Manhattan Skyline" on my post, "Pink Roses by Elyse". At the time I didn't realize that I had a flyer of Manhattan Skyline in my collection or I would have posted it along with Elyse's other works.

Elyse was commissioned to paint in water color a photo taken by New York Mayor Rudolph Guiliani of the lower Manhattan skyline and it hangs in New York's City Hall. It has been published as a giclee on water color paper: image size 20"x28", edition size 250 and 25 AP's. I have not done any research on availability of the piece yet but as soon as there is a request for more information I'll be at your service.

Pictured is the water color of the original, not the actual photo taken by the Mayor.

Size: 23"x32" Unfr.

A woman in a hammock was a very inspiring subject during the 1880's but the difference between this one and the others painted is that this woman is concentrating on her book. There isn't anything reckless about her as she is just spending a quiet afternoon in her garden. There aren't any connotations of gentlemen as was so prevalent in paintings at the end of the 19th Century.

Parisian Flower Market by Pencke

Oil Painting
Size: 24"x36" Unfr.

Flower markets in Paris were very popular and held in open areas attended by the female members of the growers. The oldest market was established in 1808 and the stands were open twice a week. For a location, 25 cents a day was paid to the town of Paris.

(Just thought I'd add a little historical background).

Rarely does Pencke change his pallet, but in order to convey a delicate,
atmospheric setting for the flower stands, he wisely chose to mix a pallet of pastel colored paints for The Parisian Flower Market.

Parisian Street Corner With Horse andCarriage and Car by Pencke

Oil Painting
Size: 24"x36"

What caught my attention to this piece was that I don't think I ever saw an old world Paris painting by Pencke where he included a car. Searching around I came to the conclusion that the car could be the first car powered by gas circa 1894 in France. So we can date the picture, not when it was painted, of course. It was Karl Benze that invented this car called the Benz Velo and each car was different from the other. Standard car models were not made yet.

I get caught up with little details and like to address them when possible. It makes it much more interesting for me and for the client, (I hope), to learn a little more than what we see.

My sale price is $375 but don't use this price as the estimated present value. I am depleting my inventory.

Irisis - Cast Paper

Size: 18.5"x30.5"
Edition: 76/500

"A cast from the past". (I couldn't resist that). I had to hold onto at least one piece from the group show "The Art of Cast Paper Sculpture" so the Irisis were not for sale until now.

Cast paper is sculpture in the bas-relief tradition similar to bronze casting. It transforms the old fashioned method of hand made paper into the dramatic effect of bas-relief. By casting from a three dimensional form, flat paper is transformed into sculpture.

The show was a great success which featured works by Richard Casey, Bruno Lucchesi,
Dr. Ron Katz, Paul Jenkins and Knox Martin. Sculpture in the round was featured as well by New Jersey sculptors Michael Shachman, Willi Tobias, Linda Handler, Livia Angelone, and Arthur Glickman. Their work included marble, bronze and a combination of bronze and plexi-glass.

Sale Price: $300 unfr. It would need a shadow box frame, my plexi box framer has retired.

I've always been fascinated with paintings depicting monuments of antiquity, namely
ruins. I can't compare it to Capriccio's "View With Ruins" for obvious reasons but I was pleased with my feelings towards the painting. After all I am a romanticist
and I was justified that the purchase made sense. And the price was right.

There are several artists that paint under the name of Underwood but none of them
were the Underwood I was looking for. There are no papers bearing the history of the
artist but that didn't stop me from owning the painting.

As I am depleting my inventory I am selling this piece for $500. I will respectfully consider your offer.

Pink Roses by Elyse

Off Set Lithograph
Size: 25"x38"

The flower of sweet thoughts and gentle emotions and in giving, a lovely and heartfelt way to say "thank you" and used in this way it expresses joy and delight.

Elyse's images are on fabrics and on a variety of products. Her artworks are in movies and in television room settings. She had the honor of being commissioned by
NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani to paint in watercolor a picture he had taken of the Manhattan skyline the title of the piece as well. It was presented to him in his NY City Hall office.

To frame conservatively use metal, #11 profile in the anodized finish. My framing cost for a 25"x38" (full image) is $75 which includes frame, mount, glass and fit.
To frame in a grand manor? The sky could be the limit. I'll be happy to work within your budget.

Peony Rose by Elyse

Off Set Lithograph
Size: 35.75"x25.50"

I've loved this piece ever since I saw the original water color at a N.Y. Art Expo show. I'm so happy that Elyse decided to share it's beauty by publishing an unlimited edition. This has made it possible for many to include some or all of Elyse's florals in a decorative theme at home or office.

By special commission Elyse can reproduce your favorite floral in oils or watercolor.

A Patron of the Arts - At The Patrice Breteau Show

I could always depend on family to help fill the gallery at an opening. Here is Ali not only a Patron of the Arts but an artist as well now. Her creative accomplishments are an exemplification of her true artistic nature as seen in the labyrinth she created, her paintings and successful adventure with the guitar, composition, and modeling in clay and photography as well. And I'm sure I left a few things out.

Dogwood Branch by Lowell Nesbitt

Serigraph 1980 SOLD
Size: 51"x37" Framed
Pencil Signed
Edition: 18/200
Estimated Price: $1100
My Price: $800

The long awaited photographing of the Dogwood Branch. This piece was stacked behind several oversized works with wide wooden frames and I couldn't without the help of my daughter lift it out to be photographed. I still have an oversized Nesbitt in a tube to photograph and I still don't have the surface large enough needed to do the job. The Nesbitt saga continues.
