Times Square by Susan Meisel

Size: 24"x36"
Signed in Ink

Susan Meisel was published by Edward Weston Graphics, the company I directed
in SoHo, New York on Mercer and Prince Street.
I had the pleasure of visiting with her and her husband at their magnificent loft in the area. Her works have the quality of "brightness and gaiety".

She has paintings in 40 states and 16 countries. I just love her.

I have a collection that I've been hoarding and feel a "sense of fun" when I view them and the pieces posted here need a home. The collection I have are all signed in pencil by the artist and I may have the piece that you are looking for.

Please contact the gallery.

Dali Signature - Authentic

Authentic Signature
From Portfolio Frontice Piece
Signed in Pencil

Consider attaching this Dali signature to one of his unsigned prints. It will fit into a 3"x5" opening with some room to spare. I can mount the print and cut a window into the mat to accommodate the signature and of course applying acid free service.

The signature is from the frontice piece of The Memories Of Surrealism suite. Example A/169. The pieces were all sold back in the '80s. (I should have held onto some of them.)

Nun and Priest by Xavier Cugat

Original Silkscreen
Size: 8"x10" each
Silkscreened Signature on Front
Signed in Pen on Back

For those of you who don't remember who he is or never knew he existed, Cugat is known for conducting a Latin-American band which featured Carmen Miranda, the singer, who always wore a head piece piled high with colorful fruit (fake of course). He is also remembered for his humorous paintings of famous celebrities, at least by me.

They are silkscreened on canvas board and when I frame them I only have to put glass on the back to protect the signature.

Mother and Two Children by Edna Hibel

Edna Hibel would say "A love of people,a love of your work and your love of life go hand in hand". This is not only true for the making of art for Hibel but it aptly defines my tenacity in directing a retail Art Gallery. (Celebrating my 31st year).

The piece posted here is from my personal collection.

The image size is 28"x22.50" and boasts a beautiful gold baroque frame.

Price on Request-smorantzgallery@gmail.com or call 201-943-8900

P.S.
At the artist's discretion, she printed two editions totaling 319. This piece is from the 1st edition, #120/159 and is pencil signed by the artist. I invite any questions.

Mother and Child by Andrea Piron - Oil Painting - 24"x36" SOLD

I haven't found much information about the artist but that wasn't going to stop me from buying it for the gallery. The price was right and after fitting it into this frame I was convinced I made a good choice!

I was right. I made a good choice and it was SOLD May 11, 2011.

The painting was sold Mother's Day weekend to my two newest clients who I hope will feel confident enough now with my gallery to continue working with me.

(And their furniture hadn't even been delivered yet).

Young Woman Holding Candlesticks by Yehuda Vardi

Original Lithograph
Size: 25.25"x19.75" unframed
Pencil Signed AP

Vardi was born in Iraq but grew up in Israel. He was known for his soft, colorful, mainly beautiful women portraits but devoted his life to a Swedish Noble Diplomat and Architect who saved more than 100,000 Jewish people during the 2nd World War; Raoul Wallenberg.

Everything posted on my blog is for sale or other wise noted.

If you have a few moments google Raoul Wallenberg. I treasure people who stand up for others even if it's at their own risk. I hope you do also.

I have received many inquiries from the owners of Vardi oils and graphics who
wish to sell me their collection (Vardi) or wish to find out how much their pieces are worth. I don't mind the pleasure of speaking with you but I am not at this time purchasing. I am only interested in selling my collection. I am respectfully accepting the best offer for the pieces posted on my blog. (I like hearing from you anyway). Perhaps I can share an idea or two with you on how to go about selling. If not, enjoy in good health the beauty that it was purchased for.

Summer Garden by Gertrude Barrer

SUMMER GARDEN by Gertrude Barrer

Original Silkscreen
Pencil Signed
Paper:20"x26"
Image: 19"x15.50"
Edition:45/150

Note:
Gertrude Barrer and Frank Russell, husband and wife, collaborated in producing art projects for over forty years. They created the "Byzantine Triptych" and"Romeo and Juliet" designs for Porcelain Collectors' Plates. Barrer and Russell entered their ceramic paintings into one of my Gallery's Group Shows and I'm happy to report sales were successful. Ceramic paintings by these artists are no longer available except on the re-sale market but I've a great collection of limited edition prints on arches paper embossed with a Russell-Barrer Atelier logo.

Gertrude illustrated five children's books, is listed in "Who's Who in American Art" and "Who's Who in American Women". In another Group Show she was chosen by Clement Greenberg to exhibit in the Whitney Museum Annual. She was the dearest! If I can only turn back time to when I delighted in selling the frescos. I love this Art World and the wonderful artists that make and made up this art world. I loved Frank and Gertrude.

Frontice Piece From The Les Chevaux Portfolio by Lebadang

Lebadang was born in Vietnam in 1922 and emigrated to France in 1939. The Portfolio was published in 1968 by Edward Weston Graphics before I began working for the Company in Island Park, N.Y. I began as an Auctioneer doing auctions throughout the U.S. and Canada. Mr Weston, a Publisher of art purchased a landmark building in SoHo,retired the Auction business and opened the East Coast division of his Company of which I became Director of sales, management, overseeing the printing of editions, dealing with artists (Warhol)etc.,and all things related to the world of ART.

Paper size is 11"x15", some fold out so are larger.
Edition is 50/125.

All the sheets have been engraved on stone, lithographed, etched and executed in relief by Lebadang. All copies are signed in pencil by the artist and the suite is from my personal collection.

Les Chevaux - by Lebadang - From The Portfolio

Lebadang is recognized as one of the world's most accomplished original printmakers. Many of his works combine the techniques of etching, embossing lithography and silkscreen. He takes every opportunity to manipulate the image and achieves a grace and simplicity of lines, shapes and color.
I didn't photograph the entire suite instead I just took a sampling.(This really is a lot of work).

Les Chevaux - by Lebadang - From The Portfolio

I can't imagine another print maker that I've worked with who could express his artistic vision through the use of paper the way Lebadang does. In one closing of the press he simultaneously achieves the complex image, texture and color where normally this work requires many plates and impressions.

In Lebadang's honor an international award was named for individuals who have achieved a level of peace within their personal and professional accomplishments.

I'm waiting for mine.

Young Girl With Basket by C. Victor

Oil Painting
8"x10" unframed
20"x22" with this frame

The framed pictured is available. There are so many choices in frames, one is more beautiful than the other, the choice is always up to you.

This piece and it's companion, "Young Girl With Kitten", is like owning Vintage Art. I sold the pieces to a client twenty years ago and they found their way back to the gallery recently. The client "needed a change" and I was elated to see them back in my collection. This is what you call "a deal". Both parties were happy! Other wise it couldn't be a deal.

I tried to replace them over the years but never could. I hope to post the companion piece soon but they'll probably sell off the gallery wall before I get a
chance. The companion piece is titled "Girl With Kitten" by Mushall, and it's finally been posted. See "Girl With Kitten" it's a good picture of the frame. The pieces are still on the gallery wall but that's fine, tho' they do need a wall in a special home.

Unknown - Japanese Bridge At Giverny

Oil Painting
36"x48"

The artist of this work is paying homage to Monet's Japanese bridge and water lily pond. It is perfectly acceptable for an artist to reproduce another artist's work as long as they do not sign the original artist's name or if a copy right is attached.
Monet painted the water lilies in his Giverny home over and over again, as he tried to capture every possible variation of light and reflection in the water gardens.Who wouldn't want the original? You could sell it and live comfortably the rest of your life. The above post is a decorative work and will lighten any corner of your home. Great price! Contact me.

A Day Out on the Inlet by Peters SOLD

Oil Painting
24"X36" unframed

I wish more people could deal with a vertical painting over their couch, bed or server in the dinning room. Unless there is absolutely no inches left from the top of the frame to the ceiling then go for the horizontal. Look around the room, everything in it is probably horizontal; the coffee table, side boards, dressers and the mantle, etc. Give the room some drama with a verticle piece, the illusion it makes is a higher ceiling and then you have space on either side for perhaps some smaller coordinating pieces or sconces to light up the painting. There's a great selection of these (sconces) out there.

Whatever you do, you have to live with it and be comfortable with your decision. I just like making helpful suggestions.

The painting was sold today to a charming lady for her hopefully new home as she hasn't closed as yet. If your following my blog I'll let you know either way.
(The house has both an indoor and outdoor pool and my client can hardly wait to move in. She has me praying to help her dream come true). Her offer was $3 million.

Pink Wild Roses In Green Bowl by Pauline

Oil Painting
20"x24" unframed

You can't find paintings like this anymore for the price offered by the gallery. It's being shown without a frame because I borrowed the frame for another piece and just haven't gotten around to having it reframed. There are so many choices!

S.Morantz Galleries commented again...

The picture appears blurry because it is. I'm looking at it now on the gallery wall and it's perfect. I had it framed since my 1st comment. Too bad you can't see all the selections of frames I have for this piece....I'm determined to have the pleasure of selling it in person because I love watching for body language
and hearing vocal expressions reacting to my selling expertise. And I do mean everything I say!

Garden Path by R. Jahn SOLD

Oil Painting
Size: 20"x24"

Would measure up to a Monet.
The frame certainly is a good choice or not depending on personal choice.
I suggest the style and color of the frame, the final choice is up to the client, they have one month for an exchange for the one I suggested.

S.Morantz Galleries said it's SOLD

I always quote the size of the painting unframed,
then I reach for the tape measure to see if the piece will have limited wall space. The Garden Path has found a wall in a beautiful home.

Poppy Fields

POPPY FIELDS
Oil Painting
Size: 30"x40"

"The poppy's look real" is one of the comments made by visitors to the gallery when viewing this artists work. "How can he achieve such dimension with a brush? The poppies are jumping off of the canvas". My reply,"not with a brush but with a pallet knife". And then I begin sharing my experience with the pallet knife. This is the way I'd like to continue selling....and educating along the way.

I was doing research on myself and I decided to google (brownie points for my computer) an art instructor I studied with who taught the use of the pallet knife when I attended OCCC. To my delight I learned that Coulton Waugh had written two books on the subject since teaching there and that his father is Fredrick Waugh, the famous marine artist. A painting I had rendered in class using the pallet knife was entered into a juried show without my knowledge. I didn’t remain distraught for too long because it was tagged with a blue ribbon, and I received a trophy at an
award ceremony. The trophy sits on my desk as a reminder of days of yore. Wonders never cease.

Sunflower Fields

Oil Painting
Size: 30"x40" unframed
Price: $300

This piece was in my window. Along side, on a pedestal, I placed a vase of sunflowers. I pulled out all my sunflower works, 8"x10", 20"x24", and 24"x36" and created a sunflower theme to the delight of passerby's.

The Sunflowers have been replaced in the window with a Ballet theme. Grand. Borrowed ballet slippers and tu tu.

The Ballet theme has been replaced with a rose theme. On the top of the easel is a reproduction of John William Waterhouse's "Soul of the Rose". It measures 24"x30" unframed and 32"x38" framed and it boasts a beautiful antique white baroque frame. The artist is Leo Lee who was a resident of Cliffside Park and was willing to barter
with me for my artist's easel that I no longer had use for. I never regretted the trade. I'm still not sure that I am ready to sell my painting but at least window shoppers are enjoying the view. For the right price it might find a new home.

If you are familiar with this painting, I continued the vine of roses with a silk garland of roses I attached to the frame and draped it casually down and around a pedestal hosting a vase of pink roses. It's so pretty. I keep going outside to beam. Please use your power of visualization.

P.S.
I'm committed to selling my artwork for very reasonable prices and I will respectfully consider your offer on any of the art on the blog. This statement will be repeated throughout the blog.

The artist's general technique used is intaglio. He creates the image on many different plates then transferred to handmade paper by the high pressure of the etching press. Close examination of Kravjansky's procedure shows its complexity. The artist is a phenomenally talented artist.

Mother and Child by Sandu Liberman

Original Lithograph
Size: 22"x27"
Pencil Signed AP

If you had the pleasure of vacationing at one of the following hotels in the Catskill Mountains; The Concord, The Nevele, The Raleigh Country Club, Kutcher's, or The Grossinger's you attended an Art Auction which featured this Artist's work. Sandu Liberman was a portrait artist born in Romania in 1923, his passing circa 1970.

If I may, I conducted the art auctions for Todd Gallery at the Concord Hotel, late 60's, early 70's and directed the gallery on the Promenade, next to the "Coffee Shoppe", a very visible location. I always hung a Liberman portrait in the window and it always sold. I hesitated hanging a 6'x6' painting of Einstein in the window because it would take up too much room, but I did and it sold. These were the glory days of selling, especially the Liberman's. I also have a lithograph of "The Boy With The Butterfly" available.

Most of his editions totaled 250. Contact the gallery if you own one or if you remember my auctions in any of the above hotels. I'd love to hear from you.

Above I mentioned the very visible location of the gallery I directed at the Concord Hotel. The Concord is no longer there but the memories are and one of these days I'll find space on my blog to share them with you. Meanwhile, "BUY ART"!
