Still Life In Pink,White And Orange by W.Horner

Oil Painting
20"x24" unframed

If I painted this you can be sure the selling price would be three times higher because you would have a biography of the artist. As long as the artist is unknown to me (I don't have the time to do the researching, and if I did I still wouldn't bother) my rule of thumb is,"I see it, I like it, it's affordable, I buy it". Once in awhile an artist emerges and becomes recognized and if I followed my intuition at the time of this purchase I pat myself on the back.

A lot of my buying involves intuition. It doesn't take intuition to buy a Picasso. Just money. And I have one that I'd like to sell! I haven't put it on my blog because I'd really like the pleasure of selling it in person. I can just imagine how many emails or calls I'd receive from Picasso owners wanting to sell me theirs or wanting to know how much theirs is worth.

Getting back to W.Horner....a gift at $450 unframed. If I had painted it...$1200.

Regatta by Susan Pear Meisel

Original Lithograph
Pencil Signed
Printer's Proof-PP
Paper: 29.25"x23"
Image: 26.50"x21.25"

If I know my people, you'll want to know it's history. How much history can this innocent piece have? It doesn't look like an Invitational Yachting Competition where a trophy is awarded to the winner. America's Cup? Not likely to us but it could be to Susan P. Meisel because of the fun she has in interpreting colorful, well known places and events which invite the portrayal of group scenes. There are details and plenty of them if you take the time to discover them.

This printer's proof was a gift to me from the publisher, Edward Weston, now deceased. His graphic company was on Mercer and Prince Street located in a landmark building purchased by Mr Weston circa 1973-4 and I was elected to "run the company". I welcomed the gift of art any time. Now I'm in the throes of selling the collection I've en massed but holding onto enough that I cannot part with.

Please contact the gallery for more information. I'm sorry, I'm not interested in purchasing your Meisel. Enjoy it in good health and for the reason you purchased it .
