Gertrude Barrer and Frank Russell were a married couple. If you had visited their studio in Roxbury,Connecticut back in the seventies and eighties they were always collaborating on various projects, including ceramic plates, printmaking, painting, book illustration and photography. Their work also included 17 fresco triptychs. Fresco is a difficult medium-traditionally painting in water base color on damp lime plaster. The triptych's artistic foundations are Byzantine.
I always loved this couple and still do.
