Winter Scene -- Before Restoration

I'm sure there was some way I could have split the photo so that both the "before" and "after" could be seen on one post. I haven't gotten that far yet.

The color and detail has been obscured over the years due to the dirt and yellowing of the protective varnish layer. You'll know when it's time to restore your work of art: when you are anxious to finally see the colors that the artist intended.

If you want to try to do the restoration yourself practice first on an unimportant oil. Using water based products are not advised, lots of patience is. But consider strongly having the job done by a professional especially if the art work is an investment, one of sentimental value or just for your esthetic pleasure.

My gallery will do the best possible job, naturally, but the work has to be seen by the gallery before a price can be quoted, then given a little time to thoroughly complete an examination of the work.

Keep up with your daily care of your precious oils and I'm sure I don't have to remind you not to smoke in their presence.

Winter Scene -- After Restoration

A great difference and worth every dollar!
